TRANSFORMATION
SHOKAY AW 2017 -18 COLLECTION
Transformation represents the transition of our Shokay journey from fiber exploration to fashion.
11 years ago, when we first discovered the potential of yak fiber, few people believed how luscious the fiber was,
and how beautiful products made from yak fiber could be.
From sourcing the fiber directly from Tibetan nomadic herders to innovating with our spinners,
Shokay has developed the yarns from a single natural color of chocolate brown to now a rich palate of over
a hundred colors in different blends.
This season, inspired by the color of the people and their indigenous styling,
Shokay introduced the new colors of Maroon, Dusty Rose, Tangerine, and Canary.
We designed timeless shapes that are both comfortable and stylish, and highlight hand knit pieces that speak of our origin.
The collection was photographed at a place that has inspired us over the years, Design Republic Commune.
The space was the former Police Headquarters built by the British in 1910, and had become an abandoned building in
Shanghai before Neri and Hu transformed it into a beautiful modern space that now “stands for a new birth of life and style.”
As Shokay transitions into a new phase of our journey in fashion, we continue to explore our passion
for connecting local communities to innovation and sustainability.
